The Stags boasted a conference-high eight programs with perfect multi-year scores.

Fairfield University Athletics led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference — with eight teams earning perfect scores of 1000 — in the NCAA's most recent Academic Progress Rate (APR) report. The most recent report encompasses multi-year data from the 2020-21 through the 2023-24 academic years.

"I am incredibly pleased and proud that our student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom, as is evident in the most recent APR report. Their commitment to academic success is reflective of an overall dedication to excellence in all of their endeavors – athletically, academically, and as members of the Fairfield community – that is synonymous with the Fairfield Stags," said Vice President for Athletics Paul Schlickmann. “It is also a testament to our coaches who continue to recruit, retain, and graduate elite student-athletes, as well as to our professors and academic support staff for their dedication to the success of our student-athletes and all Fairfield University students."

Fairfield's MAAC-leading eight programs that merited perfect 1000 multi-year APR scores are men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, softball, women's soccer, and men's and women's swimming and diving.

Four additional Stags' programs earned multi-year APR scores of 990 or higher: women's basketball (995), baseball (993), field hockey (991) and men's soccer (990).

Implemented in 2003 as part of an ambitious academic reform effort in Division I, the Academic Progress Rate (APR) holds institutions accountable for the academic progress of their student-athletes through a team-based metric that accounts for the eligibility and retention of each student-athlete for each academic term.
